LINE VOLTAGE THERMOSTAT MANUAL

Welcome to the Hunter Home Comfort family of quality products. The line voltage  
thermostats are designed for operation with resistance heating elements and unit  
heaters. These thermostats use snap action switches and do not require leveling.  
There are two models: 40351–single pole and 40352–double pole.  
Removal and Installation:  
WARNING: HIGH VOLTAGE – RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK. Before removing the  
existing thermostat and installing your Hunter thermostat, disconnect the power to  
the furnace to avoid an electrical hazard.

) Before disconnecting your existing thermostat, make sure that you note and label  
how the wires were connected to the thermostat. 2) Remove the existing thermostat.  
) Your Hunter thermostat is made up of three sections: the baseplate, the cover, and

the knob. 4) Connect the wires from the wall to the baseplate screw terminals  
according to the connection diagrams for each model. Connect the ground wire to the  
ground screw on the baseplate.  
Caution: Failure to connect the ground wire could result in electrical shock. 5) Attach the  
baseplate to the box with the two screws provided. 6) Snap the cover onto the baseplate  
top first then the bottom. 7) Place the knob on the switch and turn to the off position.

) Restore the power to the furnace. 9) Set the temperature by turning the knob to the  
desired temperature.

Limited Warranty  
The Hunter Fan Company warrants your Hunter Thermostat to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of  
one year from the date of sale to the original user or consumer purchaser. If your Hunter Thermostat malfunctions or fails within  
the warranty period because of a defect in material or workmanship, we will replace it.  
THIS WARRANTY IS IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER EXPRESS WARRANTIES. THE DURATION OF ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY,  
INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR  
PURPOSE, MADE IN RESPECT TO YOUR HUNTER THERMOSTAT IS LIMITED TO THE PERIOD OF THE EXPRESS WARRANTY  
SET FORTH ABOVE.  
This warranty is voided if your Hunter Thermostat is not purchased and installed in the U.S.A.  
This warranty excludes and does not cover defects, malfunctions, or failures of your Hunter Thermostat which were caused by  
repairs by persons not authorized by us, mishandling, improper installation, modifications or damage to the Hunter Thermostat  
while in your possession, or unreasonable use, including failure to provide reasonable and necessary maintenance.  
Return your product, along with proof of purchase, to Hunter Fan Co. Service Department, 2500 Frisco Avenue, Memphis,  
Tennessee 38114. You will be responsible for all insurance and freight or other transportation charges to our factory. We will  
return your Hunter Thermostat freight prepaid. Your Hunter Thermostat should be properly packed to avoid damage in transit  
since we will not be responsible for any such damage.  
IN NO EVENT SHALL HUNTER FAN CO. BE LIABLE FOR CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES.  
SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON HOW LONG AN IMPLIED WARRANTY LASTS OR THE EXCLUSION OR  
LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES SO THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT  
APPLY TO YOU.  
THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS AND YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS WHICH VARY FROM  
STATE TO STATE.
